Environmental Education Program

El Ajial currently welcomes around 500 students each year through its environmental education program, focused on schools in Huelquén, Chada and the Paine municipality. The new 2026–2036 Management Plan sets a target of 1,000 students per year, strengthening community ties to the territory and shaping new generations of forest guardians.

Educational activities are held in Extensive Use zones, primarily at the Local Genetics Rescue Nursery — equipped with outdoor classrooms, an off-grid solar system, and didactic materials on flora, fauna and ecosystem services.

Reforestation volunteering

We organize reforestation volunteer days coordinated with schools, universities and community organizations. Each volunteer plants trees grown from local genetic stock, directly contributing to native forest restoration. Sessions include prior training, supervised planting and follow-up of individuals planted.

Activity coordination

School visits, volunteer days and educational activities require prior coordination by email at contacto@elajial.cl or by phone at +56 9 7377 4383.

The reserve does not operate as an open tourist destination. Tourism and visitor experiences are offered exclusively through Tourism experiences at La Montaña.
